WHAT IS THE GLOBAL INDUSTRY CHALLENGE?
The challenge is a global initiative launched by the New York City Economic Development Corporation in partnership with New York International. It brings innovative companies from around the world which are active in areas of strategic significance to the city and connects them with local business and community leaders.
WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
As a hub for applied science, commerce, technology and finance, and at the heart of global networks and supply chains, NYC is uniquely placed to benefit from new technological trends. This program will connect innovators from around the world with local stakeholders, share best practices, strengthen the city’s economy, and create more economic opportunities for all.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
The World to NYC – Global Industry Challenge program invites the world’s most innovative companies to New York City, connects them with local stakeholders, potential investors, and a network of advisors to discuss how the City, businesses, and citizens can capitalize on the sector’s huge potential. A rigorous selection process promises to bring only the best companies to the city. Applications are now closed as of August 25. NYC-based companies interested in getting involved contact us here.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for digitally-enabled technologies (including software, hardware, and connected devices) that make cities more intelligent, efficient, and resilient by optimizing use of energy, resources and the built environment. While we welcome interest from any company focusing on the application of technology to urban sustainability, the following sectors are of particular interest:
I had never imagined that I would get so many business contacts in just three days. The W2NYC program is an excellent occasion for networking; I even stayed a week longer to embrace all the follow-up possibilities.
W2NYC gave us a good idea of what to expect when expanding to NYC. Everybody involved in the program was helpful and provided us great opportunities for networking. We learned that NYC is a vibrant city with lots of opportunities and assistance for startups.
The W2NYC program provided me with extensive insight into how business in New York City actually looks. These three days provided me with the missing links to make a fully informed decision to relocate to the US. I feel well prepared for this big step.
